The Palladium Ballroom at Malberry Suites Business Hotel is buzzing with activity as professionals gather for the 1st Takaful Masterclass. Organized by the International Council of Islamic Finance Educators (ICIFE), with Mindanao State University serving as the main host, the event features a comprehensive program led by renowned speakers from across ASEAN. These include Razi Pahlavi Abdul Aziz, Managing Director of Amanie Holding Limited, Dr. Habeebullah Zakariyah, Deputy Dean, Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance, International Islamic University Malaysia, and Mohammad Zafifi bin Jamaludin, Training Manager, Ammetlife Takaful BHD.
In his welcome address, MSU System President Atty. Basari D. Mapupuno emphasized the university’s commitment to expanding its curriculum and programs to better serve Mindanao and the broader community. He acknowledged the unique challenges of integrating Takaful into the existing system, but also highlighted the strategic opportunity for MSU to promote inclusivity, community development, and ethical governance.

He emphasized the importance of safeguarding economic life, stating, “Every human has two lives: one is life as you know it… the other is economic life… we must protect our economic life.”

On the afternoon, the sessions will continue tackling topics on Regulations and Compliance, Risk Management in Takaful, Case Studies, and the Future of Takaful.
