On April 19, 2021, the Meranaw Cultural Heritage Center at Mindanao State University in Marawi City hosted the Meranaw Orthography Consultation. The President of the MSU System, Atty. Basari D. Mapupuno gave his opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of standardizing the Meranaw language.
The goal of the event was to gather community input and insights on the development of Meranaw orthography, and the attendance of faculty and staff at the University who are enthusiasts of the Meranaw language and are writing works in it was notable. Community consultations are key to decision-making processes as they promote transparency, accountability, and encourage diverse perspectives. Overall, the event was successful in engaging the Meranaw community in the University and ensuring that their voices are heard.
