Alejandro M. Gonzaga Jr. is an Associate Professor V and the current Chairman of the Extension and Production Department at the College of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (CFAS), Mindanao State University (MSU), Marawi City. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Fisheries, majoring in Inland Fisheries, from MSU’s College of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, where he was honored as a College Leadership Awardee.
He has advanced his academic credentials with a Master of Science in Marine Biology from the School of Graduate Studies at MSU’s Naawan Campus. He further pursued a Ph.D. in Fisheries at the University of the Philippines in the Visayas, completing his requirements through a scholarship from the DOST-Accelerated Science and Technology Human Resource Development Program (ASTHRDP).
In addition to his teaching role, he is actively engaged in collaborative research projects with key organizations including DOST-PCAARRD, MOST-BARMM, and DOST-NRCP. He has contributed to the scientific community through publications in three international journals. His extensive service to CFAS includes notable positions such as Assistant Dean and Faculty Coordinator, overseeing various MSU extension campuses including MSU-Main Campus Sindangan Extension, MSU-Malabang Community College, MSU-Lopez Jaena Community College, and MSU-Baloi Community College.
His dedication to both academic excellence and community service significantly impacts the field of fisheries science and education
