Mohammad Faizar Yahya Alonto is native to Marawi City, Lanao del Sur. He is a well-known debater and extemporaneous speaker, especially during his college life. He finished his BS in International Relations at Mindanao State University-Main Campus, where he was also awarded as both a Magna Cum Laude and the University Class Salutatorian (Class of 2018, Batch Mawaraw). In August 2018, he joined the Department of International Relations as a junior faculty member. He has handled major subjects such as the Seminar on Global Issues, Diplomacy of Africa, West, South and Southeast Asia, and International Political Economy. In 2019, he became a member-teacher of the MSU Peace Education Committee, thus he also teaches the service course Fundamentals of Peace Education. In the same year, he received the YÖK Scholarships granted by the Government of Türkiye. In 2021, he returned from Kastamonu Üniversitesi with a Certificate in Turkish Language Proficiency (C1 level). In 2022, he earned his Certificate in Governmental Management from the Graduate Studies Department of the College of Public Affairs. This year, he is enrolled in thesis writing for his Master of Public Administration degree, in Allah’s will. Apart from his young academic career, Mr. Alonto is also engaged in youth empowerment and peace advocacy. In 2018, he was a part of the Lanao Delegation sent to both the 50th Commemoration of the Jabidah Massacre held at Corregidor Island at Bataan, and the Bangsamoro Lakas Kabataan Conference held in Davao City. This year, he started and serves as a board member of, a social enterprise called Rinaw Cafe — a venture inspired by cultural advocacy to promote and revive traditional Meranaw delicacies in the cafe industry and to strategically allocate significant shares of the profits to support livelihood programs and other various community projects.
