Mindanao State University (MSU) – Main Campus inaugurated its innovative Souvenir Shop and Display Center on October 9, 2024. The grand opening was graced by MSU System President Atty. Basari D. Mapupuno, along with university officials, faculty, staff, students, and local artisans.
Lanao del Sur Vice Governor Mohammad Khalid R. Adiong, the guest speaker, emphasized that the MSU Souvenir Shop serves as a symbol of unity, reminding everyone of their collective role in the university’s narrative. The shop showcases the rich cultural heritage of the Meranaws and supports local entrepreneurs. President Mapupuno urged everyone to support the shop by patronizing the products as they not only embody the MSU brand but also the Meranaw identity and ideals.
The project was conceived by the University’s Technology Innovation Center (TIC), led by Director Sarifa Sofia A. Macarambon-Ali, JD, through the Entrepreneurship Training and Promotion Office (ETPO), headed by Chief Maria Stella G. Codas. It is being operated in partnership with the University Business Office, headed by Muhammad Zuhair L. Gani, CPA. The shop is located at the International Convention Center of the university and offers a variety of products, including university-branded merchandise, innovative itemsfrom MSU researchers, and culturally significant crafts.
The establishment of the Souvenir Shop and Display Center not only promotes the MSU brand but also contributes to the local economy and fosters a sense of community. It is a testament to the university’s commitment to peace, progress, cultural preservation, and prosperity.
