About The Department

Established in 1963, the Chemical Engineering program has a rich history of providing a comprehensive five-year Bachelor of Science curriculum. In 2018, the program underwent a significant revision to align with the national K-12 initiative. This revision streamlined the program to a four-year format while simultaneously revitalizing the curriculum.

The department has been revamped with a contemporary approach, ensuring a strong foundation in scientific principles and preparing graduates to translate that knowledge into practical applications.  Furthermore, the department now fosters a culture of scientific research focused on real-world chemical engineering challenges.

The Chemical Engineering program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip graduates with a well-rounded skillset that extends beyond just technical proficiency. In recognition of the ever-evolving nature of the field, the curriculum has undergone regular revisions to ensure its continued relevance. A significant update in 1998 saw the integration of advanced courses, ensuring graduates remained at the forefront of their field and prepared to address the complex challenges encountered in the chemical industry. The most recent revision, implemented in 2018 in response to the national K-12 program, streamlined the program from five years to four. This streamlining effort was accompanied by a refresh of core chemical engineering courses, ensuring a contemporary and engaging learning experience.

Throughout its history, since its inception in 1963, the Chemical Engineering program has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to providing students with the most relevant and up-to-date education possible.
