MISSION

• To broaden the psychological perspective of the students with respect to various techniques, and principles of psychology as applied to various problems that continuously plagued the society today.
• To responds and assist the needs of the community within the expertise and capability of the department.
• To provide opportunities for faculty and learners to develop skills in assessment, counseling, life coaching, psychological intervention, research and communication and become culturally sensitive practitioner in the social helping profession.

          The department offers a high quality education for the students who wants to pursue and get the degree of Bachelor of Science in Psychology. The Department focuses on helping students become experts in understanding human behavior, while also being kind and ethical in their work.

          The vision of the department is to create graduates who can compete globally, yet understand and respect different cultures. The department’s mission is to help students learn about various ways psychology can solve problems that affect society today. This gives students the tools to help others and make a real difference in their communities.

          The department’s core values—excellence, peace, ethics in practice, competence, compassion, and truth—guide students to not only be skilled in their profession but also to act with kindness, honesty, and responsibility. In addition to learning the theory of psychology, students also get hands-on experience through activities like counseling, research, and life coaching. This helps students grow into thoughtful and culturally sensitive psychologists who are ready to help people in meaningful ways.

       The Department of Psychology at Mindanao State University – Marawi offers a well-rounded education that prepares students to become skilled, ethical, and culturally aware professionals. The department aims to provide a globally competitive program, equipping students with the knowledge and practical skills needed to tackle both local and global challenges. The curriculum focuses on understanding psychological principles and applying them to real-world issues, such as mental health, counseling, and community support. With core values like excellence, ethics, compassion, and competence, the department ensures that students are not only knowledgeable but also sensitive to diverse cultures and committed to helping others. By offering hands-on experiences and emphasizing personal growth, MSU-Marawi prepares graduates to be effective and compassionate psychologists in various settings.

          The Psychology Majors Society is the official student organization in the department, it consist of 19 positions, from the President to the Society Ambassador. These students are ready to take the lead and ready to showcase their incredible talent, and to be a good influence a good role model in the department.
