Mindanao State University’s Cultural Affairs Office plays an important role in the university’s objective of being a premier center for cultural expression and preservation in Mindanao. Beyond merely encouraging artistic production, the office serves as a vibrant center where innovation and tradition coexist. It actively participates in the cultural development of Mindanao’s different indigenous populations while simultaneously fostering the artistic spirit of the university community.

Beyond the boundaries of the institution, the office aims to promote intercultural communication and build cultural identity among the larger Mindanao community. To preserve the rich legacy of Mindanao’s indigenous peoples, the Cultural Affairs Office supports cultural knowledge study, documentation, and sharing. It aspires to a thriving cultural environment where creative expression coexists with a profound awareness and admiration of Mindanao’s distinctive cultural fabric. The office attempts to promote a sense of shared heritage and pride by making cultural participation accessible to everyone through workshops, performances, exhibitions, and community outreach initiatives.ย

Search for New Members in different Cultural Groups

CAO competes in the University Wide competition of the Cleanest and Most beautiful Office

On September 30, 2024, the flag-raising ceremony was followed by the awarding ceremony for the annual Cleanliness, Beautification, and Landscaping Contest at MSU-Main Campus. Administrative Units, Semi-academic Units, Botanical Gardens, and Student Organizations’ Parks were the three divisions of the competition. Through visual inspection, the Cleanliness, Beautification, and Landscaping Committee rigorously assessed the offices on cleanliness, the use of 5S principles, awareness of Foundation Day through decorations or props, employee involvement, and overall presentation, including originality and creativity. The Cultural Affairs Office emerged as the 2nd runner-up in Category A (Separate Building with Landscaping), a testament to its commitment to maintaining a clean, beautiful, and inspiring environment.

In line with its 63rd Founding Anniversary, the Mindanao State University kicks off with a bang during the Rawaten Cultural Gala 2024. The said event is highlighted by diverse cultural performances of the eight MSU campuses held on September 1 at the Dimaporo gymnasium. And the Darangan Cultural Dance Troupe, Sining Kambayoka Ensemble, as well as Sining Pananadem Ensemble showcased their heart for art and culture in the said event.
