Mission

1. To develop and offer more varied programs designed to help students attain higher levels of language proficiency giving them a competitive edge in the articulation of truth and their self-actualization in this information—and communication-oriented world.

2. To craft programs in communication, media and related studies to widen prospective clientele’s range of choices.

3. To provide a solid grounding for the youth by incorporating into the educational frame enduring values and immutable truths, thus mold them into men of superior cultural, moral and aesthetic sensibility and sensitivity.

4. To establish linkages with local, regional and international institutions for collaborative ventures, specifically human resource training, faculty and student exchange program, and information and material exchange.

5. To strive for higher standards of excellence in instruction, research and extension in linguistics, language teaching studies, literature and humane letters, cultural and communication studies, and the humanities.

Goals

1. To provide quality education to students in humanities—i.e. communication arts, language studies, linguistics, literature, rhetoric, the fine arts and performing arts, mass media education, and cultural and literary criticism.

2. To create the optimal conditions that will encourage teachers and students to conduct research, especially on the autochthonous languages, arts and cultures of MINSUPALA.

3. To initiate outreach programs designed to raise the level of functional literary and appreciation of indigenous culture in the region.

4. To produce a new graduate force empowered by language, knowledge and critical thinking to participate in any discourse affecting humanity, and by the persuasive power of arguments, help raise others to the same awareness.

5. To equip students with the intellectual and practical skills essential to furthering their personal growth and building productive careers.

6. To raise a new breed of true humanists committed to pursuit of the true, the good, and the beautiful, with cultivated aesthetic sense and cultural sensitivity, and with a perspective that is at once nationalist and internationalist.

7. To seek local and foreign grants, scholarships, exchange programs, and travel exposure for faculty and students.

Objectives

1. To ensure that course syllabi and teaching and learning methodologies used and developed are relevant, updated and multidisciplinary through periodic evaluation, enrichment and training programs.

2. To sponsor seminars, conferences, and for a on abroad range of topics and issues of interest to the discipline.

3. To create an environment for using the English language, oral and written, in communicative, strategic and creative ways.

4. To provide opportunities for students to understand and more fully appreciate the uniqueness and nuances of native or indigenous languages and cultures.

5. To mount stage plays, sponsor poetry and music concerts,a nd invite local and national artists to afford students greater exposure to the performing arts.

6. To support programs that put on display students’ literary gifts, talents in the performing arts, and their creative outputs in the major visual arts.

7. To sensitize students to the rich variety of human heritage by making a part of their education the critical and pleasurable experience of the work of local and foreign artists.

8. To point students’ interest in the direction of researches that challenge entrenched orthodoxes, and contribute fresh insights to their chosen fields of specialization.

9. To develop and sustain relations with the surrounding communities through extension or community service such as output-oriented programs.

10. To explore local and foreign sources of study that faculty and students who seek furtherance or their intellectual growth may avail of.

11. To train and produce teachers in English in the elementary, high school and college.
