The Kalimudan Hall at the Meranaw Cultural Heritage Center (MCHC) buzzed with excitement today as the MSU-MCHC, under the leadership of Prof. Sorhaila L. Latip-Yusoph, PhD, unveiled a new book collection showcasing the legacy of Meranaw literature. The event, a celebration of the enduring power of storytelling and the importance of preserving Meranaw cultural heritage, drew a massive crowd of MSU scholars, students, and enthusiasts eager to delve into the wealth of knowledge presented in the newly released publications.
Dr. Latip-Yusoph, in her opening remarks, emphasized the collection’s significance, highlighting literature’s vital role in shaping understanding of the world and preserving Meranaw cultural identity.
The event also received strong support from MSU System President Atty. Basari D. Mapupuno and former Senator Loren Legarda, who both delivered inspirational messages. President Mapupuno stressed the importance of preserving and promoting Meranaw culture through written documents, while former Senator Legarda highlighted the MSU’s vital role in ensuring the continuity of Meranaw heritage.
The unveiled book collection, published by the Meranaw Cultural Heritage Center Press, included various works, from captivating stories and poignant poems to insightful sayings and other forms of Meranaw literature. The authors, each leading scholars in their respective fields, also shared their inspiration.
