Mindanao State University (MSU) – Main Campus significantly advanced its technological capabilities with the distribution of drones to several key units. The ceremony, held at the Antonio Isidro Hall following the morning flag ceremony, underscored the university’s dedication to innovation as part of its ICT Modernization Program.
ICTC Director Ronald M. Silvosa opened the event, emphasizing the transformative potential of drones across various academic disciplines. Rommel F. Asibal, ICT MP Project Coordinator, followed with a compelling video demonstration of the drones’ capabilities. The official handover was presided over by Atty. Basari D. Mapupuno, MSU System President.
The drones were distributed to the College of Agriculture (COA), College of Forestry and Environmental Studies (CFES), Office of Information, Press, and Publication (OIPP), and the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (OVCAA). Heads of each department expressed their appreciation and detailed their plans for integrating this technology. These plans encompass applications in agricultural research and monitoring, forestry management, enhanced media coverage, innovative teaching methods, and improved administrative efficiency.
Mohammad Jehad M. Mangotara, ICT MP Project Manager, concluded the ceremony, highlighting the transformative potential of this technology for MSU’s future. Saida G. Omar, ICTC Secretary, served as the emcee.
The integration of drone technology is expected to significantly enhance MSU’s capacity to deliver high-quality education. By providing students and faculty with access to advanced tools for research, practical application, and innovative teaching methods, the university reinforces its commitment to its mission of providing excellent and relevant education.
