Admission Requirements

For BA ELS and BA LCS undergraduate programs:

A. Freshmen (Academic Scholars, Special Muslim Grantees, Cultural Community Grantees, Baccalaureate, and CET Passers)

1. Applicants must present the following upon application:
a. SASE/CET result (He/She must be a SASE/CET Passer)
b. High School Report Card (Form 137)
c. Php 100 (nonrefundable exam fee)
2. Applicants must undergo the screening exam to be given by the Department.
PHASE 1: Written Exam
Applicants must obtain at least 60 points to qualify for the oral exam.
-Language Use (30pts)
-Identification of Errors (30pts)
-Reading Comprehension and Essay (40pts)
PHASE 2: Oral Exam
Applicants must obtain at least 60 points to qualify for either the BAELS or BALCS program.
-Fluency (30pts)
-Appropriate Use of Words (35pts)
-Grammar (35pts)
📌Note: Scholars need not take the phase 1 & phase 2 of the screening exam.

B. Shifters and Transferees

1. Shifters must present the following upon application:
a. Certificate of Clearance from the former College or Department
b. Evaluation Sheet (Official Copy)
Note: For re-admitted students, a re-admission form must be presented.
 
2. Transferees must present the following upon application:
a. CET rating (if CET passer)
b. TOR or evaluation sheet (official copy)
c. Certificate of Good Moral Character or Honorable Dismissal
 
3. For both SHIFTERS & TRANSFEREES:
a. A grade of at least 2.5 in GEC 102 (Purposive Communication) and GEC 106 (Art Appreciation)
b. Must have satisfactorily passed Phases 1 and 2 of the screening exam.

C. Pursuers

1. Pursuers from the CBP must present and satisfy the following prior to the Oral Exam:
a. Must be a CBP passer.
2. Pursuers from the CPC and Technology programs must present and satisfy the following prior to the Oral Exam:
a. TOR or evaluation sheet (a grade of 1.75 in GEC 102 & GEC 106)
3. Pursuers to second degree must present and satisfy the following prior to the Oral Exam:
a. A grade of 2.5 in all English subjects previously taken (for the old curriculum) and at least 2.5 in GEC 102 (Purposive Communication) & GEC 106 (Art Appreciation), and English subjects previously taken (for the new curriculum).
4. ALL PURSUERS must take and pass the Phase 1 & 2 of the screening exam.

For MA ELT graduate program:

1. Applicants must present the following upon application:

a. An official copy of the undergraduate TOR or at least an official copy of the Evaluation Sheet showing they have completed all required courses for their degree. This means that the applicant should already have an undergraduate degree.
b. Certificate of Good Moral Character & Honorable Dismissal
c. Recommendation Letters from two (2) previous mentors.
d. Php 300 (nonrefundable exam fee)
 
2. Applicants must undergo the screening exam to be given by the Department:
PHASE 1: Written Exam
Applicants must obtain at least 60 points to qualify for the oral exam:
-Language Use (30pts)
-Identification of Errors (30pts)
-Reading Comprehension, Essay, and Concept Paper (40pts)
Phase 2: Oral Exam
Applicants must obtain at least 60 points to qualify for the MAELT program:
-Fluency (30pts)
-Appropriate Use of Words (35pts)
-Grammar (35pts)
