The Department of Electrical Engineering of the Mindanao State University was officially established in 1964, offering one of the four (4) initial programs of the College of Engineering – Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE). A one-man department back then, the first “instructor” and chair was Professor Rufino Ignacio. Later on, with the offering of the Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering (BSECE, formerly BS in Electronics and Communications Engineering) in 2001, the department was then renamed the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department.

The EEE Department offers two undergraduate programs, namely BS in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) and BS in Electronics Engineering (BSECE). Both degrees are four-year programs that lead to the profession of electrical engineer and electronics engineer (after passing the Professional Regulation Commission Board Examinations), respectively.
Love the challenge of mathematics, applied physics, and chemistry combined? You have come to the right place! The BSEE and BSECE programs of the EEE Department all have rigorous series of courses in mathematics and applied sciences. One may have the option in specializing in any of the tracks in electrical engineering (power systems, renewable energy, etc.) and in electronics engineering (microelectronics, digital signal processing, instrumentation and control, telecommunications, etc.).
Electrical and electronics engineering are at the forefront of everyday technology. The study of electricity from power generation to its use in energizing domestic and corporate life – this is what electrical engineering does for humanity. The study and creation of electronics devices that provides ease and comfort for our daily existence, that is electronics engineering at work.
