The College of Health Sciences was located in the Annex, 1st street, MSU and was created through BOR Resolution No. 1216 s. 1977. It was approved to offer Diploma in Midwifery and Bachelor of Science in Nursing as its initial offerings. However, only the Diploma in Midwifery was immediately offered during that time due to lack of facilities. It was in 1988 when the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program was finally offered after complying with the necessary requirements of the Board of Nursing.
In 1999, the two-year Associate in Health Science Education (AHSE) curriculum was implemented offering preparatory subjects for students to progress to the study of efficient Health Sciences courses in addition to Nursing. In 2006, it was amended and changed to straight Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Currently, the exemplary college is offering Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing major in Nursing Administration. It was in June 2019 when the location of the college was transferred near the main entrance of the university in Brgy. Biaba Damag, Marawi city to cater more learners.
The founding Director of the College was Dr. Agripino Gonzales who was succeeded by late Prof. Cynthia M. Filipinas. When her term had ended, she was succeeded by Dr. Nur-Hannipha B. Derico. After 2 terms, the deanship was turned over to Dr. Mindamora U. Mutin who was again succeeded by Dr. Nur-Hannipha B. Derico whose term ended July 1, 2015 before the leadership was passed on to Dr. Naima D. Mala until last December 21, 2021. By then, the deanship was passed on to Dr. Salmah M. Basher that lasted until March of the same year. During the challenging period, Dr. Hamdoni K. Pangandaman took the responsibility as Officer-In-Charge Dean of CHS while the MSU had the transition period of having new System President. Recently on June 17, 2022, the care and leadership of CHS was passed on to Dr. Athena Jalaliyah B. Derico-Lawi.
