Spearheaded by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (OVCAA), the event was meticulously planned and executed, leaving a lasting impression on the attendees and setting the stage for a successful academic year ahead.
The Convocation ceremony served as an official induction of the new students into their respective academic institutions and created an inclusive and supportive environment as they embark on their academic journey. Gracefully attended by the University and Campus officials, faculty and staff members of the various colleges, and the new students of the University, the event was formally opened by the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Amerkhan G. Cabaro who warmly welcomed everyone, and emphasized that such ceremony was conducted in order to welcome, guide, and integrate new students into the university community besides setting the stage for academic success, fostering a sense of community, and providing the necessary resources and support for students to thrive in their chosen paths.
The ceremony featured the introduction of the MSU System and Campus officials such as the university president, vice presidents, vice chancellors, assistant vice chancellors, deans, directors, faculty members, and other administrative staff, which created a sense of community and belonging among the freshmen. It has helped them understand the organizational structure of the institution and they key individuals who are responsible for their academic and overall experience.
The event also highlighted the inspiring speech of the University President, Atty. Basari D. Mapupuno who shared his wisdom and encouraged the students to embrace the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead. His words of wisdom resonated deeply with the audience, instilling a sense of purpose and motivation among the students. Thus, the freshers radiated enthusiasm as they eagerly listened to the President’s speech.
The remarkable and breathtaking performances of the three (3) world class cultural groups of the campus- the Sining Pananadem, Darangen Dance Troupe, and Sining Kambayoka Ensemble added to the significance and vivacity of the event. The dance presentations represented the passing of knowledge, traditions, and values from one generation to the next, fostering a sense of continuity and belonging within the academic community, while showcasing the diverse cultures in the MINSUPALA region.
Furthermore, in order to familiarize the new students with the academic environment, resources, and support systems, the various offices of the institution such as the University Registrar’s Office, University Library, Admission’s Office, Housing and Management Division, Cultural Affairs Office, Scholarship Center, Division of Students Affairs, University Medical Services and Hospital, Security Services Department, and Supreme Student Council introduced their support services offered to the students through video presentations. Such services are crucial for the successful transition of the students, thereby contributing to their holistic development and setting foundation for their academic and personal success.
