The din of celebratory sounds reverberating everywhere is what one immediately hears upon entering the Campus along with the sight of activities in every visible nook and cranny with the splay of vibrant colors beautifully catching one’s eyes. It may be a Sunday but it’s September 01, 2024 and it was evident that all were one in celebrating the 63rd Foundation Day of Mindanao State University. In the Grandstand, the moment the program began, the seeming cacophony of noise blended into a symphony of celebration and the splay of colors arranged itself to a parade of colleges with its students brandishing proudly their flags along with known personalities holding the banners of their organization in MSU-Main.

In the artistically decorated Meranaw covered stage in the middle of the Grandstand was the MSU System President, Sultan Atty. Basari D. Mapupuno leading all in commemorating the 63rd Founding Anniversary of MSU with the theme, Fostering a Harmonious Balance between Technology and Humane Learning. With him on stage were the Guest Speaker, H.E. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Dato’ Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino of Malaysia and other important visitors such as University of the Philippines President Angelo Jimenez along with members of the Board of Regents, System officials, and MSU Chancellors. On each side of the covered stage were tents and seated were other officials, directors, and guests of MSU. On the bleachers and wearing proudly the shirts of their respective colleges and offices were the Faculty and personnel of MSU-Main.

The celebratory atmosphere was concretized in the cheering presentation of the Basic Education extension campuses of MSU saluting the MSU System President and regaling guests with their performances. As we mark the 63rd Anniversary of Mindanao State University with its 12 campuses all over Mindanao along with its extension campuses and the hundred thousands of lives it has changed for the better and the establishment of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao as its backdrop today, MSU System President Basari D. Mapupuno succintly capsulized in his speech that MSU concretized the line in its hymn, “Silahis ang katulad mong nagsabog ng liwanag, ng pag asa’t hangarin ng pagunlad.” That’s MSU at 63 on the path of a peaceful and progressive Mindanao towards a One Philippines.
