Mindanao State University (MSU)—Main Campus celebrated the completion of major renovations to two key buildings: the Islamic Banking and Finance (IBF) Building (formerly Al Manar Building) and the King Faisal Building, including the Al-Farouki Hall (formerly the King Faisal Library) located on the second floor. Turnover ceremonies for both buildings were held this morning, January 13, 2025.
The program began with a Quran recitation by Aleem Saminoden Sangcopan, establishing a reverent atmosphere. Engr. Mohammad Husayni A. Salbo, a representative of Rud-Sayni Builders (the contractor responsible for the King Faisal Building’s renovation), highlighted the building’s benefits for MSU constituents, especially students, and anticipated more partnerships with the university. KFCIAAS Dean, Dr. Abdulcader M. Ayo also expressed gratitude, outlining the buildings’ roles in learning, collaborations, and discovery, and emphasizing their symbolic representation of hope, opportunity, and commitment to education and innovation. MSU System President, Atty. Basari D. Mapupuno’s crucial leadership was also implicitly acknowledged in these speeches as instrumental to the projects’ success.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony for both buildings was a key moment. The IBF Building underwent renovations funded by MSU’s resources, resulting in more space, improved ventilation, and a more aesthetically pleasing interior. The King Faisal Building’s renovation, undertaken by the contractor, included significant infrastructure upgrades, improved classrooms and function areas, enhanced accessibility features, and improved comfort rooms. This dual approach reflects MSU’s commitment to facility improvement through both internal resources and external collaborations.
The ceremony concluded with a closing du’a by Aleem Mohammad-Daud Pangandaman. Mohammad Faizar Y. Alonto served as the emcee. The successful completion of these renovations represents a significant achievement for MSU, providing enhanced facilities for students and faculty. This success is a direct result of President Mapupuno’s vision and resolute commitment to the university’s growth and development. The renovated spaces are poised to significantly enhance the learning and working environment at the university.
