The Mindanao State University-Main Campus (MSU-Main) and the Bangsamoro Sports Commission (BSC) signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) this morning at the VIP Lounge of MSU, Marawi City. The MOU signing was witnessed by some MSU System and Marawi officials, unit heads, faculty, and staff and representatives from Bangsamoro Sports Commission (BSC) and Philippine Sports Commission (PSC). It marks a significant step towards harnessing the athletic potential of the region and nurturing future sporting champions.
BSC Consultant Jamilnur D. Sarip highlighted the transformative power of sports, emphasizing its potential to empower the Bangsamoro community, which is also the mandate of the commission. PMS Director Atty. Rashid V. Pandi emphasized MSU’s commitment to sports development, a passion shared by MSU System President Atty. Basari D. Mapupuno who is an athlete himself.
The core of the ceremony featured unwavering commitment messages from both leaders. BSC Chairman Dr. Arsalan A. Diamoden pledged the commission’s dedication to identifying and nurturing sporting talent within the Bangsamoro, while Atty. Mapupuno reaffirmed MSU’s unwavering support in providing the educational and training infrastructure necessary for the partnership to flourish.
The symbolic signing of the MOU solidified the partnership, paving the way for collaborative efforts in athlete identification, training programs, sports facilities development, and academic support initiatives. This united front promises to revolutionize sports development in the region.
Adding further weight to the occasion, PSC Chairman Hon. Richard Bachmann conveyed his resounding support. He commended the partnership and pledged active involvement in implementing sports programs across the Bangsamoro region, stating, “You will see more of me, more of my staff going to the provinces to help develop sports.”
The ceremony concluded with an exchange of tokens, a photo session, and refreshments, allowing guests to celebrate this momentous occasion and envision the bright future of Bangsamoro sports.
