About The Office

Panginam Healing and Wellness Center (PHWC) is a multi-disciplinary holistic and contextualized Mental Health and Psychosocial Services Center of the Mindanao State University System (MSUS). It is located in MSU-Main Campus, Marawi City. PHWC is officially established pursuant to BOR Res. #40, S.2024 during the 266th MSUS BOR En Banc Meeting last April 23, 2024 held at CHED Conference Room, HEDC Bldg., CP. Garcia Ave., U.P. Diliman, Quezon City. The institutionalization of PHWC is a notable success of MSUS Pres. Atty Basari Dimakuta Mapupuno which is a declaration of acknowledgement of his responsibility to holistically attend to mental health needs and concerns of MSUS constituents and its communities in ardous time. It envisions to be a primary accessible mental health hub. It serves the constituents of MSUS including its communities in the Bangsamoro. It offers Psychological First Aid (PFA), Listening, Counseling, Transient Space, Psychological Services and other Mental Health Services. It also provides Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) services to survivors of emergencies and disasters including but not limited to survivors of violence against women and children (VAWC)/ gender-based violence (GBV), personal conflicts, and family issues. Advocacy activities advancing Mental Health and preventing suicide are also part of the programs of the Center. Panginam is a Mranaw term that means “hope”. The center intends to bring hope.

PHWC envisions to be the premier accessible service center of holistic mental health and psychosocial support for healing and wellness throughout MSU system and its communities.

MISSION

PHWC is committed to provide comprehensive, quality, inclusive, and contextualized mental health and psychosocial support programs and services through compassion, innovation, engagement, inspiration and empowerment of individuals and communities in need towards sustainable inner peace.

GOAL

  1. Ensure accessibility of holistic healing and wellness services to MSUS and its communities through creation and provision of safe spaces to address mental health needs, concerns and issues.
  2. Continuously innovate and adapt services to align with evolving mental health needs ensuring the center remains a premier accessible MHPSS service center reflecting inclusivity and sensitivity in all aspects of service delivery through recognition and respect of the diverse backgrounds and needs of MSU System and its communities.

PHWC Celebrates its 1st Anniversary!

Panginam Healing and Wellness Center (PHWC) proudly marked its first anniversary with a ๐ญ๐ฐ๐จ-๐๐š๐ฒ celebration dedicated to service and wellness.

On ๐…๐ž๐›๐ซ๐ฎ๐š๐ซ๐ฒ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ, PHWC organized a Free Haircut activity for the community and invited Civil-Military Operations Battalion (CMOB) and Community Relations Office (CRO) to witness the event.

On ๐…๐ž๐›๐ซ๐ฎ๐š๐ซ๐ฒ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’, the main program started with a Flag Ceremony, followed by inspiring messages from our guest speakers. ๐„๐ง๐ ๐ซ. ๐‘๐š๐ฌ๐ข๐ ๐๐š๐œ๐š, Executive Vice President, an Inspirational Message, while ๐Œ๐ฌ. ๐‘๐จ๐ก๐š๐ง๐ข๐ž ๐๐ฎ๐ง๐ฌ๐š, CWTS Coordinator, shared a Collaborative Message on mental health advocacy. ๐๐ซ๐จ๐Ÿ. ๐€๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐จ๐๐ข๐ง๐  ๐. ๐‹๐ข๐ฆ๐ฉ๐š๐จ, ๐๐ก.๐ƒ. ๐๐ฌ๐ฒ, presented PHWCโ€™s Accomplishment Report and Research, highlighting the centerโ€™s progress over the past year. ๐ƒ๐ซ. ๐†๐จ๐๐ข๐ฏ๐š ๐„. ๐‘๐ข๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐š, Mental Health Focal of Peace Speakers (FPE101), delivered a Keynote Address emphasizing the importance of mental wellness.

The event concluded with Closing Remarks from ๐ƒ๐ซ. ๐€๐ฆ๐ž๐ซ๐ค๐ก๐š๐ง ๐†. ๐‚๐š๐›๐š๐ซ๐จ, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, and the Distribution of Tokens to express our appreciation.

To end the celebration on a warm note, a free breakfast was shared at the center, bringing everyone together in gratitude. A happy and joyous ๐Ž๐ฉ๐ž๐ง- ๐‡๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ž followed wherein guests are treated with sumptuous lunch on that day.

MSU-PHWC Mental Health Week Celebration 2024

Mindanao State University through Panginam Healing and Wellness Center (PHWC) enjoins everyone to be a part of the celebration of 2024 National Mental Health Week from October 7 to 13, aligning with this year’s theme: โ€œIt is Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace.โ€ Together, we aim to foster a culture where mental health is a key element of everyone well-being, promoting an environment where everyone can grow and thrive.
