Ms. Ameenah R. Gumal, or simply called ‘Amekq’ by her friends and relatives, hailed from the Municipalities of Ramain, Watu-Balindong, and the city of Marawi. She is married to Mr. Nor-Amein M. Salic, who also hailed from Watu-Balindong, and whom she happily shares their 2 daughters with – Amara Khadeejah and Amira Fatimah. She is also the 2nd child of Prof. Rocaira R. Gumal and Engr. Acsara A. Gumal, Ph.D.
She comes from a family of educators, which is why she also found her calling in the same profession. She is a faculty member of the Tourism Management Department at the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management, currently serving as the College Secretary, and a contributor in the University Newsletter.
Ms. Gumal is a graduate of BS Tourism in 2014, a bachelor’s degree she obtained from the very university she proudly stands upon today. She is also a holder of Civil Service Honor Graduate Eligibility, gained her Professional Development Course Certificate from the American Hospitality Academy Online Campus, and a Training Methodology I Certificate Holder. She earned her Professional Education Units in 2016 and received her License as a Professional Teacher in Secondary Education, specializing in Social Studies in 2018. In 2023, she earned her Master of Arts in Philippine Studies degree from the College of Social Sciences and Humanities of the MSU Main Campus.
Ms. Gumal believes that by intertwining the disciplines of Tourism, Social Studies, and Philippine Studies, she can embrace a teaching approach that delves into the heart and soul of her distinctive cultural heritage, history, and societal dynamics, and empowers her to provide students with a more profound and holistic understanding of tourism management.
