Dr. Christine Joy S. Octobre is a faculty of the College of Public Affairs, Mindanao State University-Main Campus, Marawi City for more than fifteen years. She had served the institution as College Secretary, College Research Coordinator and Special Assistant to the Office of the Vice President for Administration and Finance of the MSU-System. She also served as an Executive Assistant of the Campus Head of MSU-Maigo School of Arts and Trades in 2021-2022 where she gained considerable administrative experiences.
Apart from teaching, she has been an active thesis adviser in both the undergraduate and graduate programs of the Department of Public Administration. Her research work focuses on local public finance, specifically on local revenue generation and collection, and financial allocation. She presented papers in various international conferences held in the Philippines and abroad. In 2015, she received a Best Research Paper Award and Nemecio E. Prudente Excellence in Research Award during the 3rd International Research Conference on Higher Education (IRCHE) held in Subic, Philippines. In 2021, she also received the Best Paper Award during the GANet International Conference on Business, Education, Social Sciences and Technology (GICBEST) held in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. Recently, she was part of the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Teaching (STA) scholarship where she experienced research and teaching activities at ISCTE-University Institute of Lisbon, Portugal in May 2022.
Her most recent publication is titled “Comparative Trend Analysis on Revenue Generation among Selected Municipalities in Surigao del Sur, FY 2000-2018” in the International Journal of Advanced Research in Economics and Finance, 2022.
Dr. Octobre obtained her Bachelor of Public Administration degree from Mindanao State University-Marawi City where she graduated as Cum Laude in 2007. She completed her Master of Public Administration degree from the same university in 2012. In 2020, she graduated from her Doctor of Public Administration degree from Xavier University- Ateneo de Cagayan.
