Prof. Sorhaila L. Latip-Yusoph, PhD is currently the Director of the MSU-Meranaw Cultural Heritage Center. She is a multi-media practitioner and educator from the Department of Communication and Media Studies of the Mindanao State University in Marawi City. She teaches current trends and issues in English language teaching at the Graduate Studies Department of the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, and teaches Peace Education in the same college.
As a media practitioner, she is a columnist, podcast producer and radio anchor in different media platforms. She finished her Bachelor of Arts in English in 1998 from the Department of English, CSSH, MSU-Marawi. She graduated her Master of Science in Development Communication at the University of the Philippines-Los Baños in 2006; and her Master of Arts in Language and Communication Research at the University of Cardiff in the United Kingdom of Great Britain in 2011. She recently finished her Doctor of Philosophy from the Mindanao State University with focus on corpus linguistics of the Meranaw Language.
As a poet, writer and broadcaster, she uses her skills to enhance information dissemination in her community to foster peace and development. She recently launched her book Singanin—a book of poems and quotes for the Meranaws to appreciate the beauty of writing for peace and love for the family. As community activist, she raises awareness on the significance of education through her Soar High Mobile Library and the importance of parent and child communication through Bilantadi a Bai – Women Empowerment Program that she implements in different rural communities in Lanao del Sur. She also uses her media advocacy in her MIL4Ulamah project for the media and information literacy of the Lanao Muslim religious leaders.
