Prof. Sorhaila L. Latip-Yusoph, PhD is currently the Director of the MSU-Meranaw Cultural Heritage Center and the MSU – Office of Information, Press and Publication. She is a multi-media practitioner and educator from the Departments of Communication and Media Studies and the Graduate Department of the College of Social Sciences and Humanities of the Mindanao State University in Marawi City.
As a media practitioner, she is a columnist, podcast producer and radio anchor in different media platforms. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Doctorate in Language Studies from the College of Social Sciences and Humanities of the Mindanao State University-Marawi. She also completed her Master of Science in Development Communication (Journalism and Broadcasting) at the University of the Philippines in Los Baños; and a Master of Arts in Language and Communication Research at the University of Cardiff in the United Kingdom of Great Britain. She was also trained under the US-IVLP Certificate Program on Education in the Digital Age.
As an educator and researcher, she specializes in Meranaw Language & Culture, Peace, Media and Communication Studies, Gender and Development, Public Speaking and Digital Literacy, among others.
Sorhaila is also a community activist. As a poet, writer and broadcaster, she uses her skills to enhance information dissemination in her community to foster peace and development. She raises awareness in valuing family communication through programs and projects empowering families especially women and children like the Bilantadi a Bai – Women Empowerment Program; and the Kumusta Ka Kalumbayan Listening Post Collective. In her institution, she was the lead proponent of the Meranaw Cultural Heritage Center and the Rawaten Cultural Extravaganza for the OneMSU banner project of the Mapupuno administration.
