Venerando V. Moldez is currently an Associate Professor II at the College of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (CFAS) of Mindanao State University (MSU)- Main Campus.
In 1985, he graduated with a Degree of Bachelor of Science in Fisheries and majored in Inland Fisheries in the same University. After which, he earned his Master of Science in Aquaculture in 2010 at Mindanao State University (MSU)-Naawan Campus.
Venerando was also trained at the SOUTHEAST ASIAN FISHERIES DEVELOPMENT CENTER (SEAFDEC)- Aquaculture Department in Tigbauan, Iloilo from 1985-1986 for the following: Prawn Extensive Culture System, Intensive Training on Prawn Culture, experiment on the Effect of Two Stocking Densities and Fertilization scheme on prawn and survival of tiger prawn, practical work in Prawn Culture. He also completed the Hands-on Training on Freshwater Prawn Hatchery in March 2015.
He began his career as a Pond Technician for Island King Aquaventure Corp and handled 6 demonstration ponds for technology transfer from September 1986 to 1987 in Capiz and under Glecerio Lim and Sons, Inc. Aquaculture Division in Lanao Del Norte in 1987. He was the Shrimp Culturist from 1988-1989 in Celestial Farms, Inc, a project of Mitsui Norin Marine Products Development Company Ltd., Tokyo, Japan. Integrated Shrimp Production Complex, in Zamboanga del Sur. He also served as a Technical Supervisor with a position of Aquaculture Technician II from 1990-1991, in charge of the production/collection of tilapia and carp fingerlings for Lake Lanao stock enhance program. He became a Supervising Technical Staff for Lanao Norte Agri-Aqua Multipurpose Cooperative and Production Technologist in Bauyan Aquatic Development Corporation in 1991-1992, respectively.
Venerando was hired as a consultant for Geedung Aquafarm SDN, BHD in Terengganu, Malaysia from 2014-2015. He was registered as a Fisheries Technologist by the Professional Regulation Commission in 2006 and got certified with the National Certificate II in Aquaculture (Phil TVET Qualification and Certification System) in 2015.
While serving in the CFAS, he was designated as Project Coordinator for the OVCRE-Funded Carp Hatchery Project, College Athletic/Sport Coordinator, Officer In Charge of Research and Extension Department.
Venerando authored his first publication in Journal of Nature Studies entitled, “Acclimation of Pacific White Shrimp, Litopenaeus vannamei (Boone, 1931) to freshwater with potassium supplementation.”
His period of service with the CFAS MSU-Main Campus started in 1992 until the present.
