Mindanao State University (MSU) celebrated its 63rd founding anniversary with a thriving showcase of Mindanao’s diverse cultural heritage through dance traditions, music, and artistic expressions. The 3rd Rawaten Cultural Extravaganza, held on September 1, 2024 at the Dimaporo Gymnasium, united MSU campuses across the MINSUPALA region.
Each campus showcased unique cultural elements that reflected their respective ethnic groups as the stage transformed into a vibrant tapestry of culture. Adorned themselves with their flamboyant native costumes, performers danced gracefully and sang enchanting songs. The impressive Sagayan Festival performance of MSU-Lanao del Norte Agriculture College (MSU-LNAC) made them emerged as the People’s Choice Awardee again.
MSU-Main Campus’ Top 10 Outstanding Faculty Members with at least 25 years of service were also honored for their dedication and contribution in shaping the university’s legacy and in realizing its mission of providing quality education. The honored faculty members were Prof. Jocelyn P. Aman, Prof. Nida A. Ilupa, Prof. Imara C. Andam, Prof. Henry P. Aringa, Prof. Sonny M. Magno, Prof. Alcasar P. Maongco, Prof. Monara M. Maruhom, Prof. Grace S. Rafal, Prof. Rosemarie M. Terio, and Prof. Bernadita L. Calipusan.
The event was realized through the support of MSU System President, Atty. Basari D. Mapupuno, who strongly advocates for cultural heritage preservation. In his opening remarks, President Mapupuno emphasized that the event is a celebration of cultural identity, traditions, and pride, reflecting MSU’s vision of One MSU.
The Rawaten Cultural Extravaganza left an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of all who witnessed its splendor. It served as a powerful reminder of the enduring power of cultural heritage to unite communities and promote peace and understanding.
