The creation of MSU Intellectual Property Office (MIPO) is one of the rights and responsibilities of all Research and Development Institutes/Institutions (RDIs) to establish and strengthen their IP Management and Technology Licensing Offices given by the rules and regulations implementing Republic act 10055 (IRR of RA 10055, Rules 10, 24 and 25) issued jointly by DOST and IPOPHIL as the national government agencies mandated to promulgate such IRR. It is also MSU Marawi OVCRED’s response to CHED directive for SUCs and HEIs to establish their own IP Policy and the systemwide approval of MSU- IIT IP Policy and from which the BOR approved creation of MSU-IIT IPU was based. The MIPO will function to protect and manage all IPs and IPRs of the university main campus and make them available to the public and private sector for the benefit of the community and the country.
A leading technological hub servicing the University faculty students and staff and the local IP developers for the protection of Intellectual Property rights and foster technology transfer of IPs to public and private sectors.
MSU Intellectual Property Office (MIPO) is committed to promote intellectual property awareness, safeguards all IPs and IPRs by filing for protection and helps facilitate IP activities which include generation, preservation, and transmission of knowledge, commercialization and techno-transfer of IPs.
MIPO aims to encourage dynamic involvement of all University constituents and the public in various IP programs initiated by the Office.
