The Mindanao State University-University Training Center actively participated in the 26th Philippine Mathematical Olympiad, hosted at the College of Science and Mathematics at MSU-IIT. The team comprised 11 participants: Ahmad Mansour Batua, Norol-Azah Racman, Hamza Tungcaling, Hashien H. Omar, Abosopian Rimbang, Jeraldin Omar, Abdullah Dandamun, Nurhiszam Sidic, Zainah Guro, Alyana Eaman Bantuas, and Norolhaya Delinogun. These students were under the guidance of their dedicated coaches, namely Mr. Soraim I. Hadjinor, Ms. Fatima S. Macapanton, and Mr. Abdulrahman M. Ismael.
Our institution is honored to be one of the two schools selected from MSU High Schools to participate in the BARMM Region. The event was graced by the presence of Sir Vice Chancellor Amerkhan G. Cabaro, Ph.D., Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, and Mohammad Nur Casib, a Maranao Pride and Gold Medalist in various Mathematical Olympiads.
During the competition, our students effectively showcased their acquired knowledge and skills. The event served as a platform for them to demonstrate their academic prowess and articulate their learnings in a competitive setting. Navigating through challenging questions, the students displayed confidence, reflecting the depth of their understanding and the effectiveness of our educational methodologies. This accomplishment not only highlights the academic excellence of our institution but also underscores the commitment of both students and faculty to the pursuit of knowledge. We commend the participants for their exemplary performance and express our gratitude to the educators for their invaluable mentorship.
The success of the event can be attributed to the effective leadership of School Director Edenairah P. Esmail, Ph.D., along with Engr. Nashiba Pumbaya, Sh.L., Head of the Math Department, Shamson T. Abantas, the School Principal from the main campus, and H. Saffiya Magarang from the experimental campus.
